Orders are open and the cars are already available at Swedish dealerships: Kia EV3, EV4 and EV5 can now be had with all-wheel drive. All three share the same basic principle – an extra electric motor on the front axle in addition to the existing rear axle motor – but the result differs depending on the model.
Kia EV3 AWD – most power proportionally
EV3 AWD gets two electric motors that together deliver 265 hk and 385 Nm of torque, a significant increase compared to the single-motor version. 0–100 km/h is achieved in 6.6 seconds, and the range is up to 572 km according to WLTP – impressive considering that a second motor normally reduces range.
Kia EV4 GT Line AWD
EV4 GT Line AWD shares the same 265 hk/385 Nm drivetrain as EV3 AWD, built on the same 81.4 kWh battery. The range comes in at up to 550 km according to WLTP – somewhat lower than the two-wheel-drive EV4, which is expected given the extra motor's weight and friction.
Kia EV5 AWD – most towing capacity
EV5 AWD gets 265 hk distributed across all four wheels and stands out with a towing capacity of up to 1 800 kg – relevant for those who tow a trailer, caravan or boat and want better road grip than a two-wheel-drive variant can offer.

Why all-wheel drive now?
Demand for all-wheel drive tends to increase as electric cars move away from the city car segment and into the family car and SUV class, where Swedish buyers have historically been accustomed to all-wheel drive from combustion engine cars. Dual motors also provide better driving characteristics on ice and snow, not just a higher top speed – something that carries significant weight in a country with real winters.
Worth noting: this is separate from the three GT performance models (EV3 GT, EV4 GT, EV5 GT) that Kia showcased at the Brussels Motor Show earlier this year. Production of the GT versions starts in the second quarter of 2026 with a launch in autumn – the regular AWD versions described here are already available, while the GT versions are still on their way.
