Range & Battery
Despite its impressive size and weight, the Kia EV9 delivers a range of up to 541 km thanks to the large 99,8 kWh battery and the efficient 800V architecture. Fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just around 24 minutes – among the fastest in its class for a large SUV.
The Kia EV9's 99,8 kWh battery is among the largest on the market and provides sufficient energy to drive Stockholm–Gothenburg (470 km) without a charging stop in the RWD version. The AWD model with its 283 kW (385 hp) offers a completely different driving experience – from 0 to 100 in just 5.3 seconds, impressive for a car weighing over 2.5 tonnes.
Thanks to the 800V platform and support for up to 350 kW DC charging, stops are short even on long journeys. The battery's pre-conditioning technology automatically optimises the temperature before fast charging, so you always get maximum charging power regardless of outside temperature.
Interior Configuration
Kia EV9 is offered in two seating configurations: 6-seat with captain's chairs in the second row, or 7-seat with a split bench in the second row. The choice affects both comfort and flexibility.
The third row offers unusually generous space for an SUV – even adults sit comfortably thanks to the EV9's 3 100 mm wheelbase, the longest in its class.
Towing Capacity
Kia EV9 is one of the few electric cars on the market with a towing capacity of 2 500 kg – perfect for caravans, boat trailers or horse transporters. That makes the EV9 a serious option for families who need to tow heavy loads without giving up the benefits of electric driving.
Among the highest for electric cars in Sweden. Comparable to many diesel-powered SUVs.
With 2 500 kg braked towing weight, the Kia EV9 handles most caravans, boat trailers and horse transporters. The actual range with a trailer decreases by approximately 30–50% depending on the weight and shape of what you are towing, but with a 99,8 kWh battery you still have sufficient range for most trips with planned charging stops.
The tow hitch is factory-fitted as an option and includes a trailer power socket (13-pin connector). See also our guide on electric cars with tow hitch for a complete comparison.
Future Technology
Kia EV9 is one of the first cars in Sweden fully prepared for V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) – the technology that lets your car function as a mobile power plant. Together with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), you get a car that not only transports you but can also power your home and contribute to grid stability.
Connect household appliances directly to the car via the 230V outlet. Perfect for camping, outdoor work or emergency power at home.
Use the EV9's enormous 99,8 kWh battery as backup power for your home. Can power a normal household for several days during a power outage.
Sell electricity back to the grid when prices are high and charge when they are low. A potential revenue stream for EV9 owners.
