Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and an 11.1 kWh battery for up to 65 km of electric range. Drive shorter distances entirely on electricity and avoid range anxiety on longer trips, as the petrol engine takes over automatically.

Benefits
Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid suits you if you want to drive electrically in everyday life – commuting, errands, and school runs – but don't always have access to charging or sometimes travel longer distances. With 65 km of electric range (WLTP), many everyday trips can be completed entirely on electricity, while the petrol engine takes over seamlessly when the battery runs out.
Unlike the Niro Hybrid (which charges itself and is never plugged in), the Plug-in Hybrid version can be driven completely emission-free on short distances. Unlike the Niro EV, however, you never need to worry about range on long journeys.
Note that home charging is relatively slow (3.6 kW), so a full night's charge is recommended. Boot space is also slightly smaller than in the Hybrid version due to the larger battery under the floor.

FAQ
Up to 65 km according to WLTP. In practice, especially in cold weather, the electric range is often closer to 40–50 km.
The Plug-in Hybrid has a larger battery (11.1 kWh) that can be charged externally and driven emission-free on short distances. The Hybrid only charges itself and is fuelled solely with petrol.
With 3.6 kW home charging, a full charge takes approximately 3 hours – a standard household charger overnight is more than sufficient.
